Projects: Toys For Tots

The 2011Toys for Tots campaign was a huge success.  All toys collected were distributed to approximately 1,100 families – representing about 2,850 children.

A sincere THANK YOU to school district personnel, school secretaries at our elementary and middle school sites, and EDCOE program assistants (Child Development, Charter School, & Special Services) for helping families register for Toys for Tots.   It would not have been possible to distribute the nearly 15,000 toys to need kids without their help.  What wonderful, caring people they are!

David Morrill helped ensure that families who were not able to pick up toys on Saturday and Sunday received toys by opening the Calvary Chapel for several days following distribution.

Volunteers were also FANTASTIC! Every service group that partnered with the Hangtown Detachment 697, Marine Corps League, for the Toys for Tots Program, assisted with the toy distribution.  It seemed everyone truly enjoyed giving our local kids toys for Christmas.   Thank you to the route drivers who worked extremely hard in getting our toys from the businesses, adding new businesses to our toy campaign and for delivering toys to Indian Creek School on Friday afternoon.

The article featured in the December 14th Mt. Democrat was also very much appreciated as we received more requests, more volunteers and MORE toys as a result.

Again, the campaign was a huge success because so many people pitched in to do what they could for the children of El Dorado County.
