Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  I have a child with severe special needs, and just moved to El Dorado County. How do I get my child enrolled in a County Office Special Education class?

A.  The County Office can only respond to a request for services from your school district of residence.  Call your school district of residence, and they will begin the referral process.

Q.  I am unhappy with a situation concerning my special needs child at school.  I believe I have exhausted all communication options at my child's school and at my school district of residence.  From where can I now get assistance?

A. Call the SELPA office located at Sutter's Mill School. Their telephone number is (530) 295-2289.

Q.  My child has an IEP, can we receive door-to-door transportation?

A. Transportation is a related service and is provided based on need.  Students are sometimes transported door-to-door, but most often ride regular school buses.  Please contact your district for more information.

Q.  I don't like the curriculum used in my child's class.  Whom should I contact?

A. Contact your site principal for district classes, Bob Stromberg or Betty Connolly for County Office programs.
