Head Start/Early Head Start Program

Family Inkind
The Federal government requires 25% of funding to be generated by the local Head Start/Early Head Start program in the form of In-Kind.  The Parent Council has established a goal that each family donate a minimum of 20 HOURS PER MONTH, per child, to assist in meeting the 25% matching of local funds.

All In-Kind donations must be reported on the form provided by the child’s teacher.  If you need help filling out the form please go to the Center or Home Based Teacher and they will assist you.  All In-Kind sheets must be turned in to the Center or Home Base Teacher at the end of each month.

Ways you can help at Head Start or Early Head Start

  • Participate in home visits
  • Interact with children in the classroom
  • Get materials ready to use for a project
  • Babysit for another parent so they can volunteer
  • Share a hobby or talent with other parents at a workshop
  • Attend parent meetings, Executive Meetings or Parent Council meetings
  • Represent your class at Parent Council
  • Keep classroom materials and furnishings clean
  • Do classroom laundry
  • Translating or transcibing program information
  • Work on established goals
  • Participate in special events or socializations
  • Help prepare food or do the dishes in the classroom
  • Complete your In-Kind form every month
  • Work with your child at home to enhance ideas presented in class
  • Attend Health Advisory meetings or Community Action Council
